Evening, this might be a bit too specific but I'm wondering if anyone works or has insight into project management careers within the civil service?
I'm currently employed as an operational manager in a fast paced private sector. I'm good at it but the sector I'm in and the company are completely relentless and the workload is too much
I did an 18 month dalliance into HR and enjoyed that, but now I'm back into my core role and it's still just as relentless and overwhelming.
I've been looking at gaining project management qualifications to take my career down a new path and I now have an interview for a project officer role in civil service, which on paper looks like I will be trained well, so a great chance for further development and could be a good step to set off on another path.
It is less money than I'm on, and where my current job has potential to see big pay rises I imagine the civil service will be much slower climbs. However, the development opportunities and the (hopefully) better work life balance really appeals.
Curious if anyone can share what's it's like? I don't want to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire for a lot less money, but definitely prepared to do that if I have a better quality of life and job satisfaction.
Thanks
