Resigning over email

Id really like to avoid doing this but my manager is out of the office this week and has ignored my emails and messages asking to call me. I need to ask for a shorter notice period.

Any advice on how to approach it? A lot of staff are leaving and despite previously having had a very good relationship with management they have clearly been unhappy another role.

Is manager out of office on business or holiday? If the latter , then no. Do you have an HR dept? If you do, go talk to them in the first instance .

Contact your manager's manager? Or whoever is covering for them while they are away.

The managers manager is a good idea except there isn't anyone appropriate (my job is similar to a cleaner and the managers manager is like a CEO)

Under the circumstances I'd speak to the manager's manager and say 'sorry to dump this on you but there's no other manager around.' And make a point that you've been trying to contact your manager.
