Move to NHS Quality role from seeing patients

Very undecided. I would be walking away from seeing patients in a niche role but have the opportunity to go for a band 8a role in the corporate team working as a quality lead over children's services. I don't know if this will be more stressful than what I currently do. I am working and see very poorly patients and also managing a team at present. Will it be different higher up or not? Any advice or lived experiences would help at a loose end!

You don't say how old you are, but do you have special class status in terms of pension (this only applies to some older staff)? If you do, please take advice about whether the new role would still protect it.

I moved the other way - from a strategy and planning role to an 8a managing a clinical service. I find the operational role much more challenging, but much more rewarding.

There can be a lot of bull shit involved in corporate roles, a lot of talking shops and no real action.
However, I do one as I was close to burn out, and it saved me. I can always step back in to operations in the future, and it really does get you exposure to more strategic teams and people, and you can influence change.

I was a team manager but moved to a quality assurance nursing role (8a). From my experience it is less stressful. I was able to wfh more (which suited me) and I wasn't managing people or doing clinical work (again even less stress). It is more of a solitary role because there isn't another person in the same role as me. When I was a team manager I had the benefit of support from other managers in other teams. My work life balance has improved in my current role and works around the school run.

Hi thank you everyone you have given me some things to think about. I'm on the newer pension scheme I think 2015 thanks for asking though!
I keep getting asked about it in work and I have young children so really don't want to take on any more stress. If it was less stress then that would be great as not been managing well as of late due to general NHS pressures. Thank you
