Amazing opportunity - Unsure?

Hi all 👋🏻

I need some advice / thoughts on what to do.

Fed up with current job of 2 years. Toxic work environment and ridiculous old fashioned culture.. Only decent thing is it pays well and is 5 minutes from home.
Ive been offered an amazing job opportunity for Jaguar Land Rover. Amazing benefits, almost 10k more a year payrise, 3 days working from home and 2 days in the office. (45 min community) great pension, 12 months full maternity pay (which will be handy in the future when we have children) the list goes on.

The ONLY downside is this is a temporary 8 month rolling contract. They have however said that there is opportunity to become permanent but is not guaranteed. I’ve never, had a job that isn’t permanent but this seems like a crazy opportunity to miss. Am I wrong to turn it down based on the fact it’s not permanent, when it could potentially be?

Wow, sounds amazing, I would take it. You never know until you try and you don't like your current job anyway.

I think it depends a lot on what stage of life you're at and whether you're someone who can cope with risk. I really regret not taking chances with my career and so I'd say that unless you're in a perilous financial or personal position, go for it. Try and save enough of that extra money to pay the bills for a couple of months if there's no extension to your contract in 8 months. Develop a plan for what you'll do if you find yourself out of work in November. Good luck.

I think I would message NN HQ and ask them to delete the name of the company.

Other than that I would take the job!

Take it. Sounds like great experience to build your CV whatever happens. At your life stage you want to take some risks ro get to the most senior level you can for when you have kids. It makes it much easier to manage.

Get MN to delete the company name though!

Even if the contract ends you’ll be looking for jobs that step higher up and will have benefitted from the higher salary. Maybe save a good chunk of the pay rise as a contingency, the confidence gained working in a new role will pay dividends in itself.
