Career change what is realistic?

I am going through a redundancy after years of working in communications and marketing/pr. I really want to do something different but don't know what and wondered if anyone had suggestions or experiences of changing career or even a small pilot away from comms? My current job is media focused and I hate it. I enjoy writing and the creative aspect of comms but hate dealing with the media and the stress of it all. I want to do something else, something that I can specialise in and get really good at.

I've never known what I wanted to do for a career and only have education up to A levels. If I could afford it I'd go back to study but don't think it's realistic unless I'm very clear on what I want career wise.

Any advice on resources to explore different careers and your transferable skills? And study options?

I am 45 and have a 2 year old so probably need to be realistic!

There are a few skill assessments here - in varying levels of detail depending on how much time you have:

Might be somewhere to start?
