NHS Band 7 role

Hello

I have seen a job at band 7. I was at the low end of band 6 and have had some time off thinking I would leave the NHS BUT the job fits me to a T. It is quite niche, I have been doing a post grad diploma in the exact specialism so hoping that would help.

I'm just not sure they would consider a band 6 who wasn't at the top end of the banding? I was a B6 for 2 years. Is it worth me applying?

Thanks!

If you meet the core skills and knowledge go for it. In my experience whilst I look at current band it does rule anyone In or out. A Band 6 with experience and niche qualification (depending on other applicants) would be on my shortlist

Just go for it. Nothing to lose. People jump bands up and down all the time depending on why they are moving.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

And good luck!

I shortlist & interview for a range of nhs jobs at different bandings. I never look at their current band, just that they have the required (active) professional registration & meet the essential criteria & person spec. Go for it, you have nothing to lose.

I’m a band 7. I would say definitely. If you meet the person spec etc, especially if you are doing further training in that area. You have nothing to loose.

Ask for an informal visit and discuss your transferable skills.

Thank you all. This has been great confidence boost. I'm going to give it all I've got!
