I've never written my CV - where do I start?

A bit of background - 53 and kind of fell into my job! My parents used to own this company so I started doing a few hours here and there. And nearly 29 years later I run the company, although various subsequent owners have made a right hash of the business. I have a new owner/boss, and I'm not sure how things are going to work out, so feel I need to be prepared.

I have never written my CV... and I don't know where to start or what I need to include. In my current role, I know how to do absolutely everything in the business and I'm involved in everything in one form or the other - from manufacturing to paying suppliers. I either do it or have done it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

I'm sure people will be along in a minute to offer advice, but in terms of CV writing when you've run your own business for ages, I did this for 25 years and had a LinkedIn account which I had used to expand contacts in the early days of LinkedIn. I had numerous recommendations from clients and contractors and this was very helpful as a direct link I could direct prospective employers to, to show how reliable, professional, efficient etc I was. If you have something similar, link to it in your letter of introduction or on your CV and it'll make a massive difference.

Look at askamanager blog. American but has v sensible advice on writing a cv. Show off your achievements rather than just listing job titles.
