I work 35 hours. One day from home. I enjoy my job. Just interested to see what others think. Can't find much on Google. Thanks xx

Oh man, this is worse than the " what are your bills each month " thread!! 🙈🙈

That was my salary when I got my first graduate level job in 2001 so not really. But I don't know what kind of job you do

Wages have stagnated massively

😄

And the OP plopped and left 🤔

Yawn to this stuff. ‘Can’t find much on Google’? Yes, there’s clearly a dearth of information available about salary levels out there. 🙄

Obviously it depends. If your job is dishwashing in a small cafe in Sunderland, you’d probably feel £12 an hour was ok. If you’re CFO of a bank, it’s not a good salary and you’re not going to take that job.

They really have.

I was looking for a job recently as I fancied a change and salaries have actually fallen for an equivalent job to the one I currently do - a promotion would mean keeping the same salary, so I may as well stay put.

What do YOU think OP?

Do you earn enough to cover all your outgoings/ pension contributions etc? Any spare cash left over? If so, your wage is decent. If not, it's too low. So many variables and undisclosed information.

What do you want us to say to you exactly??

alwaysmovingforwards · 17/02/2024 19:03

What a strange thread.
But I guess now I'm here I'll answer.
That salary wouldn't work for me.
But hopefully it does for you.
What others think is pretty irrelevant.
And strangers just don't care about your salary.

Why are people saying it’s part time? 35 hours is counted as full time

I was thinking this! I'm FT on 35 hours

MamaAlwaysknowsbest · 17/02/2024 19:09

Are you going to spend this on the whole household or do you have somebody else earning also? My brother in law had about 300 pounds mortgage in the North on a small house. I think if you are there, you can easily pull a nice life

EveryKneeShallBow · 17/02/2024 19:47

I moved to Scotland from England in 1999. My salary was more than that then.

They never said anything about houses. Just asking if it was a fair wage!

Again, depends on circumstances.

But when houses in the UK cost such a colossal amount, it's very very relevant!!

That's what the bulk of our salaries go on, after all!!

No, it’s £10k under average & NMW is £24k all but a few pounds

NMW for a 40 hr week is £20K give or take a few pounds, not sure where you've got £24K on 35 hours from.
