Leaving job I hate for a one year contract?

I started a new job 8 months ago, it pays well but I absolutely hate it and really want to leave.

Ive been offered a one year maternity leave cover with a company I worked for previously that I know ill enjoy, it doesn’t pay quite as well but not a massive drop and I know the place and the people and know I’ll be much happier.

I’m a bit scared to only have a year contract not permanent, but I can’t face staying in my current role - can someone give me a talking to that life is too short to stick somewhere I hate??

Definitely go for it. You never know it could turn into something permanent.

Yes take it! Being in a job you hate when you know you turned down an easy exit will eat you alive.

Go for it! Do not look back!

You can always make a new beginning.

I wouldn’t stay in a job I didn’t like just for the money and at least you know what your walking into eg maternity over sickness cover.

Take the opportunity especially as you hate your current job. Anything could happen within the year maybe a permanent role could come up. Why stay somewhere you hate - life is too short. Good luck with it all.

Thank you all for your replies :) life is indeed too short, I really want to take the new job!

Would it help to tell you that "permanent " only applies until your employer says otherwise? There's no such thing. So do what is right for you. You can guarantee that your employer will...

This is a very good way of looking at it! Thank you
