Changing what constitutes full time

I’m a teacher and am part time (0.6 FTE). New head wants to change what constitutes full time contact hours, which will affect part timers accordingly.
His proposal is that I have 50% extra contact time next year, but remain 0.6 FTE. I am not sure he can do this, but struggling to find anything that is clear! Can anyone help?

Are you 0.6FTE or are you specified number of hours?

I am 0.6 FTE.

That seems disproportionate for the fact you are 0.6. Is it affecting full time staff as much? I would consult my union. Way to drive staff out when there is already a shortage 🙄

How many hours is he saying full time will be?

Are you employed under STPC?

What are the full-time hours now, and what does he propose to change them to?

How much are you paid per hour now, and what would it be under the new system? Seems to me you'd be taking a pay cut by the back door.

I believe main-scale teachers are entitled to 10% of their teaching hours as PPA. This can be split over a fortnight. For example, my school have a 6 period day and a 2 week timetable. If it were a 1 week timetable, I’d get 3 PPAs per week (0.8FTE) but, as it is, I get 5 per fortnight. Basically the minimum they can get away with.

I assume you have a 5 period day and currently get 2 PPAs per week and will now get 3 per fortnight? I think this is within your contract. Do I think it’s unfair? Yes.
