Should I quit my business?

I’ve been self employed for around 6 years but just recently I’ve been feeling like it’s not what I want to do anymore. I leave work in so much pain (hunched over all day) and mentally drained from having to listen to clients. It’s got to the point where I’ve been offered another job (completely different) and I will be guaranteed income every week and no longer in neck/back pain/mentally drained.

My question is, I’m a wrong to quit my business? It’s something I’ve built up from nothing, but I’m at the end of my tether with it all. I’ve got myself into so much debt from it also that I think the new job would help me to pay back some of my credit cards. Is a month notice enough time to tell my clients?
and what if i hate the new job and want to go back to my current one?
I can’t sleep for worrying about it all so looking for friendly advice please.
(for ref - im in the beauty industry)

I think you'd be right to take the new job. It doesn't sound like your current role is doing you any good mentally or physically. I think a month's notice would be fine. Give the new job time though if you take it, always hard starting a new one. I wish you luck.

Take the job, you can always set up again on your own if you change your mind

Is the new job in the same sector? Could you keep a few clients to bring in some extra income to clear your debts?

Can you take the job and still do some work for yourself?

If your business is paying less than you’d take home employed, and you don’t enjoy your work then Id say it’s time to give it up.

If your business is not paying you a salary and you have accrued debts because of this then it isn't really a business any longer. Give your clients a month's notice and take the other job. A month's notice is good - many businesses are closing 'with immediate effect' at the moment.

Good luck and enjoy the feeling of relief for as long as you can.

Thank you all for your kind words & advice. It’s most appreciated.
The new job would be in a different sector all together but something I’ve done before so I know what I’m letting myself in for haha
xx
