How you deal with this when only a minority of staff (me included) make any effort to keep it tidy, wash stuff up and clean sink etc

Nobody else makes any effort apart from coming in as soon as it’s been cleaned to then leave dirty cups etc, sugar scattered all over worktop, I could go on

And then manager comes in and says it’s a mess 😡 well yes it is because why should only two people every try to keep it clean for everyone else to do eff all

Prev tried just leaving it, doesn’t work. Tried rota to make it fair but the normal people did there part but others didn’t

Just really annoying me

That would really annoy me too.
The only consolation is those people probably live in filth at home too, which much be unpleasant for them. They are probably horrible to live with and are either single or have a very unhappy partner who constantly moans at them to pull their weight and dreams of leaving them.
Keep thinking about how yucky they are.
Clean up occasionally but no more than would be your normal turn.
Keep a clean cup and plate just for you.
Only eat things out of a lunch box so you don’t need to touch anything gross.
Leave the pigs to rot in their own pig sty 😝

In my current job, it was 'visitors' to our staff room who would be the culprits, and 1 member of staff who was teased about it until they gave in and washed their dishes.

In my current one, we don't really have tea boats (3 departments use 1 kitchen) so people bring their mugs down with tea etc in them, nor communal mugs. As everyone brings their own mug(s) in, we tend not to get a sink full. Even those of us who have visitors and spare mugs keep them in our offices so we wash them when done with and return to the office.

We had this and I soon found out that by far the best way was to ignore the room and eat my (packed) lunch at my desk.
