I NEED to leave but I don’t really WANT to.

I have been with the company for many, many years. My job has changed over the years as it became a very successful company. We took on more staff, and I became ‘manager’ of a small team.
I loved the job and the people I work with. As new processes were put in place I asked to go on a 3 day week, which was agreed. All good. Then we became busier, so I went back up to 4 days, working from home usually on the 4th day.
We have recently been bought out by another company. I was involved from the start, so the last 12 months have been doing specialist work related to this buyout. We took on extra staff to cover my old job.
My job has now changed so, so much. If I saw the job description, I wouldn’t even think about applying. Because I have access from home, I never really switch off so can often work 7 days a week, even if it’s only for an hour or two on some days.
I know the sensible thing to do would be to leave. But how do I do that?
I am on 3 months notice. I want to apply for jobs at my original level. The sort of jobs that normally expect 1 months notice at most.
Do I hand my notice in now and hope I see the perfect job advertised in the next 3 months? Or do I apply for jobs and hope they are prepared to wait three months for me?
It will take at least 2 months to find a replacement for me assuming that replacement is on 1 month notice, so an early release would not be possible.

3 months notice isn’t an usual amount, it’s typical for managers really. So I wouldn’t worry about that putting off potential employers as I think most will wait. I certainly wouldn’t hand in your notice without something lined up unless you can afford to be unemployed for a while.

A decent company will wait 3 months it's not uncommon. I had to give two and I wasn't senior at all.

If you like your current company can you ask for a job change moving sideways and a bit lower or job sharing. Is there any redistribution of the current roles that would make a difference?

Unfortunately there are currently no positions that I could move sideways in to. Also the fear would be that colleagues would still come to me as if I was still doing my current job. There would be a payout to obviously, for a sideways move, and the time and distance I have to travel to get to current job means that it wouldn't be worth it financially. I would be looking for a part time job much closer to home in order to afford the reduced pay Glad to hear that you don't think there would be a problem with the notice period though, so I will start looking and applying.
