Lack of support in new job

new job in a totally different industry to what I was in before and a totally different role. Everyone is really nice but extremely busy and I just don’t feel like I’m getting enough support. My manager has spent about 30 mins a fortnight actually speaking to me in the last 3 months. Other people I work with, spend a bit more time but again it’s limited to a couple of hours a week absolutely max and not every week.

I am so worried that I’m not doing a good job and that I won’t be able to perform. How do I bring this up? I didn’t even have an end of probation meeting, I assume I have passed given I haven’t heard anything different!

anyone been in this situation before?

It's kind of an obvious question, but what support do you want? Have you asked for that support?

I was in exactly your shoes a few months ago. My experience is it doesn’t get better, I was lucky that the company had a re organisation and I switched managers which helped. I would highly suggest you speak to your manager. I know it’s intimidating but it will cause you stress in the long run and affect your mental health. I would just be very open and I think it won’t make you look bad. How can they expect you the perform if you don’t know what you’re doing?

Ask for a meeting with your manager instead of waiting for the next 1-1. Ask how you're performing and how this is being measured. Say you want to ensure youre delivering whats required and would appreciate more input on x y and z, or some training or mentoring or whatever manager can suggest.
