Should I resign

I work at a stressful civil service job and have done for the past few years . A few months ago there were some new starters . One had previously had a warning for harassment at his old role . He kept making comments to me and for someone reason ( I’ve been told I’m not liked and this is the reason ), I was seated next to him . I was mocked by other staff about this.

I told my manager and they temporarily kept my in my old seat . I’ve now been placed with him permanently . I spoke to the union and they said I’m being bullied The managers are part of the problem and mock to . I hear them slag off staff all day.

I have asked to move seats they have said no. They mentioned a role( sort of promotion ) I could do that would take me to another part of the office , but they have given it to someone who has been there 3 months.

I feel very depressed about all this and previously I have had good friends in all the work places I’ve been . I won’t be able to cope in my new seat, should I resign ?

Find a new job first. Don't resign with nothing to go to. And keep talking to your union.

Definitely don't resign. Start looking at other Civil Service jobs in your area and brush up on your interview skills first.

What you need to do is escalate this and make a formal complaint for bullying and harrasmment to HR.

You are being bullied at work and your managers have done nothing, apart from blaming you for it and allow this to carry on...

Seriously you have a really good case here and you need to speak up and start formal complaint proceedings.

Don't resign.

Could you not have a case for constructive dismissal? Because you're being forced out of your job?
I would raise a grievance first for bullying and harassment and then if that fails (which sounds like it will) you have cause to take them to tribunal?

Has the person you are sat beside actually done anything wrong? As I am not sure I understand why your desk location constitutes bullying?

I don't understand what the issue is either. Couldn't they have moved you next to him because he is a new starter, need support and you'll be working together?
