The Best Way For My 18 Year Old Daughter To Find a Nanny job During Gap Year

Wondering if anyone's teen has or works as a nanny.
My 18 year old daughter will be finishing her A levels this year and is planning on having a gap year before going to uni to study Psychology In Education.

She wants to use the gap year to gain experience of working with children as well as earning a wage to save for going to uni.

Can anyone advise me on the best way to go about finding Nanny jobs. Would it be best to join an agency?

Any tips would be very Uchida appreciated.

Would she be better off looking for an au pair place rather than nanny?

Does she have any childcare experience?

DBS?

My DD nannied part time at Uni-she had both Nursery and Pre-school experience and a DBS.

She used local facebook groups and was able to find part time jobs to suit her schedule-school runs etc.

But as you would expect the prospective families wanted experience.

She could use an agency but they take a hefty cut.

any experience / qualifications?

She could be a TA/LSA instead. Nannies are usually experienced and much is by word of mouth.

If she wants to work in a home setting, the best jobs to look for would be Mother's Helps jobs - where she is an extra pair of hands for a parent, rather than a nanny. Other ideas for getting experience of working with children might be things like holiday clubs, sports camps, brownies and cubs, youth clubs.

Thank you for all the replies some great tips and advice.

My daughter did work experience in a primary school last year and has done babysitting.

Regarding the DBS thst will be something that she will be sorting put before applying for any jobs.

The idea of a Mother's Help is a great idea, I did that myself for a while when I was 18. She is also thinking of holiday clubs etc.
