Nhs notice period/sickness/same HB

Hi there,

Im hoping someone can help me out with this.

So Ive got a new job role within the same health board I work for now. Im currently working my notice period and have a week and a half left. The dept Im in now allocates its staff to different sites and is incredibly unfair about it (rotaring one person to cover a very busy A&E dept when there are meant to be two). I want to take some leave before I start my new role in the same health board and was going to go sick due to work related stress ( legit, Im on my own in said busy A&E dept for a whole week, cardiographer) but I do not want to trigger a first formal, which I would get if I was staying in this role. If I went off sick now, would my new manager be able to see it? And would they have to perform a first formal when I start? I do not want this to happen obviously but the way this dept treats people is incredibly unfair and I have to think of myself right now. So please dont judge. I just want to know where I stand with regards to sickness triggers. (I had my informal back in August 2023)
Thanks

I would be guessing based on public sector norms, but you are still with the same employer so I would say that the answer is yes - your new manager would see it, and it would trigger absence processes if you are at that stage. It is the employers policy and process, not the specific departments.

I had a feeling that would be the case. Thanks for responding x
