CV advice

Hello!
I am about to start job hunting. I have been in my current position for 18 years, so it's been a while since I had to update my CV, so need some advice on how to make it up to date and relevant.
The main questions I have are do I need to list all my O levels and grades?
And how much detail for early jobs?
I am basically starting from scratch as my previous CV was written on an old computer which I don't have anymore, and I don't even have the backup from then.
Any help gratefully received 🙏🏻

I include my most up to date qualifications and jobs up to 6 -10 years ago.

But it depends on the jobs your applying to. Some require proof of all jobs.

Actual proof of all jobs will be tricky, as several of the companies I worked for no longer exist!

That's for things that need DBS checks, however, I've just checked NHS and they say they want your full history, but will only reference the last 3. So I could be incorrect.

Good luck with the job hunt! It's harsh out there!

Hi OP, HR here. Where I work we don’t need all your GCSE grades, just ‘9 GCSEs including Maths/English at Grade C or above’ for example, is all we expect. This may be different in NHS/public sector if they plan to vet/check qualifications though.
Keep your CV in a straightforward format and bullet point your achievements/relevant experience at the top so they don’t need to search the whole document.
Good luck x

@GellerYeller thank you! I am working on it now. I am using a template.

Is it necessary to list hobbies and interests?

I don't include hobbies and interests and I write GCSE equivalent instead of O Levels with no date.

@ElleLeopine No hard and fast rule really. If it’s relevant to the job it can make you stand out. For example, I used to recruit entry level engineering roles. If their recent work history wasn’t quite ideal, but their hobby was car/motorbike builds/repairs, they were more of interest.

@TootsyPants @GellerYeller

Thank you both. I think that I will be leaving mine off. I don't think that they will add anything.
