Linkedin multiple applications

I applied for a Linkedin job (third party recruiter on behalf of a client).

Now the actual client has added their own job ad. It's got more detail but it's definitely the same role.

Their application also allows for a covering letter which the other didn't.

Would it be bad to apply directly as well? I can tailor the application far more now I know the company and detail.

Or should I withdraw my other application first? Could that confuse things further??

And am I risking annoying the third party recruiter too?

I'd apply direct. They will want to save in the recruitment fees. Wait for the response from the employer and then withdraw from the agency.

I would defo apply direct. I bloody hate having to go through recruiters - they will shortlist on behalf of the company and fherefore the company won't even get to see your application if the recruiter doesn't want them to.

Thank you. I guess I just didn't want to annoy the recruiter, who might have other roles in future.

If I applied via both is that more likely to annoy the employer in the event both CVs were on their shortlist?

Why is it so complicated? 🙄

Tbh recruiters are after one thing, and it's the commission from a placement. If in future you are a good candidate for another role, they'll still work with you as you could earn them commission.

You could simply withdraw your application with the recruiter now, they'll never know you've applied direct - unless you got the job which would be a good problem to have!
