Back to work part time and stress levels insane. Am I being unreasonable to expect this?

Just got back to work after my maternity leave and got approved to working three days a week no problem. I work in project support and my manager is really bad at managing basically he never checks in or schedules 1-2-1. I was at the job six months before going on maternity leave for a year and although I feel bad it wasn’t planned or entirely my fault just the way it worked out. Since I’ve been at the company I’ve had no onboarding and relatively no training. I still don’t even have access to the building because of security clearance being put on hold during maternity. I told him today that I need more support as there are areas I’m really struggling with. He agreed to find the training and support I need which is good but I can’t help but feeling bad for having a bit of a rant. I’ve been trying to muddle though on my own since I got back and I’m very resourceful and independent but I’m just stuck not knowing how some things work, having forgotten things and just generally being isolated working remotely. I’ve been so stressed I started developing a skin rash. Am I being a baby or should he have set up a bit more to help me return to work?

Gosh This sounds familiar.

I have an unmanagey manager, poor onboarding, training, left to muddle through. It seems people only listen if you rant and repeat yourself 3-4 times.

Anyway I now make sure any important communication (about my training needs, difficulties etc) is on teams or an email. Email best tbh.

Ive also started documenting the date and rough content of any conversations which I think are unhelpful and where i feel brushed off. This is because I don’t trust my manager- he seems to cover his own back and I’m so sure that some of the support he’s offering now (a couple of weeks ago he “reminded “ me that I can ask him to back me up on certain pieces of work. I’ve definitely felt very brushed off in the past when I’ve asked for such help. ) I just want to make sure that when I leave I will be able to paint an accurate picture of things.

Yeah I’ve also started sending more emails to document things. It’s a good way of keeping a trail but how do companies expect us to do a good job with no training or onboarding!
