Giving in my notice with no back up plan (primary teaching). Will it cause problems with future interviews?

I am in a stressfull teaching job I have secured before the summer. It is my first permanent role in teaching after doing 2 years of maternity cover in my previous two jobs. I want to leave with a months notice, which I have the right to do as it is explained in my contract. However I am reading mixed views of people saying that a future employer, during an interview could ask why I left my previous job compared to if I stayed on and struggled but looked like I am stable in a permanent job.

Would it look better if I was employed while looking for jobs?

How bad is it if I now have to say that I am not working and have left my previous teaching job? What would I say if a future head teacher questions why I had left a secure job? Unless in that gap I do part time supply then there won't be a gap?

Your views are important. And any experiences of this happening to any of you.

So nothing is unrecoverable. But it is definitely easier to get a job from a job. However, what I would say is more important is thinking about the story on your CV, the narrative of what you have done and where you want to go. If you can demonstrate strong delivery, some achievements and a good work ethic that carries you a long way.

What would your notice period be if you hang on a bit more? 3 months on notice isn't as bad as it seems so I would hang on if you can.

I am also thinking about taking time out due to caring commitments in another country. But I know my story and my career history is strong enough to manage that before I hand my notice in.

Also with teaching you can probably do supply/tuition etc to fill in any blanks.

Are you planning on teaching again or a different industry? Is a months notice shorter than usual?

If you are planning on returning to teaching you need to think carefully about how to explain why you want to move on so quickly to the next school.

Without understanding all the facts you could start to look like you haven't given it a chance. Hence why being able to explain why you are moving on so quickly is important.

I work in private sector and I did leave a job after 6 weeks but was ready with good reasons why the job was misold to me but I stayed at that job until I got a new one.

Sorry probably not wanted to wanted to hear and maybe teaching is different?

Sorry I don't know about teaching but I have handed in notice to a job I couldn't hack any more with nothing to go to.
BUT I was already actively applying for other roles and had 3 interviews lined up by the time I left and was in a new job few weeks later.

If the job is starting to affect your mental health you need to get out asap but you need to have an immediate plan for what you're going to do next

Are you doing your QTS?

I would be very hesitant to employ a new teacher with only supply and a short notice situation I’m afraid, yes.

Being honest - yes, this would raise re flags for me.

You need to give a terms notice don't you, so leave at Easter. That gives you plenty of time to start applying for other roles.

Hey I checked my contract I am still in probation period so it says either side can terminate the contract with a months notice.

A month notice is very untypical -is it a state school?
Probation is also very untypical for a teaching post.

it is an academy and says "both parties can terminate the contract with a months notice within the 6 month probation period". I was shocked at this too.
