Nursery assistant manager interview help!

I have an interview for an assistant manager at a nursery and need some tips and questions I could be asked.

I've been out of the game for almost two years now so also need to scrub up on knowledge of the sector! I do have previous experience as an ass. manager but this was about 5 years ago and since then had worked in schools.

Know the current EYFS and the 3 i's in depth. Up to date knowledge on ratios and which staff can be included in which combinations. Knowledge on things such as Safeguarding, SEND, difficult conversations with parents, look at the policies of the setting you are being interviewed at. How to deal with staffing issues. How you'd do supervisions. Also ideas on how you'd interact with children of the various age groups, encourage staff to do age appropriate activities, etc.

I'm not sure what kind of questions might be asked as I developed through the nursery I started at from unqualified but knowledge in these areas and how you might deal with scenarios within them are likely to be asked.

Ratios changed last September and rules around qualifications changed as of yesterday.
Eyfs was updated in December to have different versions for group settings and childminders. Make sure you read up on the newest version.

Make sure you know about the latest challenges in the industry, funding, staffing crisis etc.

Will you be room based or office based? I think that would effect what you are asked.

Hi thanks for that. it doesn't say but I presume it's a mixture of both! I'm going for a part time position cos think the manager will always be present particularly at the beginning so hopefully not much office and time to learn!
