HR help please

Hoping that someone in HR can help with this :-

i am on long term sick leave at the moment on half pay and have been signed off until at least the end of January.
I have six weeks annual leave owing which would normally have to be taken by the end of March (with the option to carry one week over to the next A/L year)
What happens to my A/L if I stay off sick for longer so don’t have the chance to use it up?
If I went back then I guess I could take the six weeks off, which would be full pay rather than half pay but I’m worried about what happens after that. The income protection insurance kicks in after six months sick leave so would that be impacted if I stop sick leave to take the annual leave?

Any advice would be appreciated.

In my case long term sick leave was accrued as normal and added on to the next year. You could go back and do short weeks.
It depends on your conditions of service. You could ask for a copy or research your organisation's website.

You’re entitled to carry over up to 28 days if you’ve been unable to use your leave due to sickness.

You'll need to check with your employer about the additional two weeks- it’ll depend on their own policy.

Thanks @FirstFallopians, that is really helpful

You're only legally entitled to carry 20 days forward to next leave year and have to use it within 18 months. They may let you carry over 28 days though, it may even be part of your contract - ask them.
I've just done a lot of research on this Subject and had the above confirmed by ACAS, after having respondent's Solicitors disagree for months.
