I'm not sure that this is exactly the right place to post this, but I will give it try and see what happens!

I left the military 4 years ago, and they have a scheme whereby you have £2000 to spend on training for up to 10 years after you have left.

I would like to think about spending this now, as before dd was born I was working too hard, and immediately after she was born I couldn't do it, but now she is 19 months I think my brain may work again! I am working, but with good holidays, so could fit in a residential course (as long as DH, who is still in RAF, is around to look after dd of course!)

What to do? The good angel on my shoulder says I should spend it on some qualification that furthers my career (I work for the Home Office as relatively senior civil servant). The devil says 'sod that....go to the red sea for a week and do another diving qualification', or go to some retreat somewhere and learn how to teach Yoga.

Just looking for ideas really, to help shape my thinking.

BTW: I already have these qualifications so don't need to do them

YOu can claim for diving, hence my pipe dream ref the red sea! You can also ask for a provider to be added to the list; there are quite a few health/fitness and nutrition courses on there already I think.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I will mull it over some further.

I am doing a part time MSc in Human Resource Strategy and Organisational behaviour at the LSE and absolutely love it. It takes your basic MBA organisational stuff and runs miles further with it - I am studying stuff like perceived injustice in the organisation, pyschological breach of contract, and the like. Between me & DH we have covered all the courses you have already done (and a couple more), and this one beats them all in terms of interest and practical use. Costs £6k full time for a year and £9k if done part time over two years. I am doing it alongside full time work and it isn't too bad to juggle if you have an organised mind. Cat me if you want to know more.

Saying that......

Thanks for all your suggestions. I had a look at the link pinkem, which was eyeopening. The last time I looked at the courses that were available was at least 18 months ago, and the number of 'approved providers' plus the range of courses is MUCH smaller than it used to be, so some of my grand plans may have to put on hold. No diving in the Red Sea or pottery courses for me! There will be somethin I want to do, so I will spend some serious time on the courses for forces site and do some research on the providers.

Cheers.
