Flexible work trial

Hello

I have always worked full time but am not on a 3 month trial as requested by myself for flexible working ( I have a child )and I am currently working part time . I think I want to go back to full time at the end of the 3 months. Can my employer refuse this ?

Not sure about the legalities but I presume it depends on what was agreed at the start of the trial period. I would assume that you should be able to say that it isn't working.

this would have involved a change of contract even if a trial

If your department has lost the headcount already, then you can't just go back. You need to apply for a change of contract and they'll need to be able to get the 0.5 FTE funded. It's not so simple as what you want. Go and talk to your manager about it.

Did you not get a letter confirming your request and the trial period? Mine stated that it could be rescinded by either party after the trial period if either side thought it hadn't worked?

Your post is confusing. You say you are not on a three month trial but then ask about something at the end of a three month period.

If you are not on a trial, then the changes arising frond the flexible working request are permanent. Any further changes, such as going back to the previous arrangement would have to be mutually agreed.

I assume the "not" should be "now"? If it readout is a trial period you can ask to terminate it at any time - you don't need to wait until the end. A trial period doesn't alter your existing terms unless both parties agree it.

Aha. That makes sense, it is the typo that changes everything.

In that case OP, there is no problem whatsoever, it is a trial for both parties.
