Colleague leaving and work load

I've not been in this position before so I'm abit naive on what's 'normal'.
There's two people in the office, I'm a regular admin person and the other person is office manager. Officer manager is leaving and they won't be replacing her. Is it normal to expect me to take on some of her work without the extra pay?

No! I am kind of in a similar situation of being forced to take on extra responsibility as someone is leaving, but I will definitely expect more money and so should you.

@Lululemonade38 there are some tasks they can land you with as part of the contractual "and any other reasonable duties as required" clause.

Why not ask them to consider you for the role of Office Manager?

If not, you need to be careful what tasks you refuse to take on because most of what an office manager does is usual for an admin as well.

No. You do what you're paid for and no more unless you're compensated. I will always help people out if it's a one off and an unforeseen situation, but they KNOW she's leaving, and KNOW the work needs doing, so they need to sort it out.

This is what concerns me as she does admin work, they may just say that it's just part of my job even though it wasn't originally my responsibility. They also don't want another 'officer manager', I guess it's cheaper not to have one.
