Do be honest about previous job?

Hi all,

Had a previous job for 4 months and then was let go off.. disappointing as I didn't receive the training to be able to perform well and it has knocked my confidence as I've always been an overachiever at previous roles. This role was in an area in which I have a degree in and lots of interest and would be keen to find a role within the same area if they provided some sort of training.
When supplying references should I give this role (most recent job) and be honest if they ask or should I just forget about it? If I don't supply it, it will look like I haven't worked in 6 months. However concerned many jobs won't want to progress further if they know I failed probation in this position.
Thanks!

Have you got a new job yet?

Not yet.. had a few responses from jobs I have applied for asking about salary expectations, previous role and why I left.. not sure what to say!

I know many people in office type jobs who left off previous jobs that didn’t work out and embellished a reason for a work history gap travel, family commitment. I could never do this as I was part of a professional register. Start off being honest and if you get knocked back do what you have to do to get a job. Maybe do a course so that’s the last thing on your CV. I’m self employed now and I know I would struggle ever working in a permanent job again. Good luck.
