Women and careers

My career is patchwork. I have a degree but most of the work I've done is short term and low paid. I wanted a family early (late 20s/early 30s) and we ended up having twins.

Due to childcare costs, I stayed at home with them.

I feel so dejected at 36 that I am still trying to find my career.

I was able to find part time work (low paid) when we were entitled to the 30 hours free childcare but it was only last year I returned to work full time with the opportunity to gain a permanent contract within a large organisation with prospects.

Not everyone knows what they want to be. You might never find yours, so keep earning and paying pension, that’s all you need to do.
And life’s not all about work and a career, you devoted time to your family, and that’s priceless.

You're 36 so you have many working years ahead to develop your career and you now have a ft job in a large organisation, sounds like you are doing ok.

Sure is Dusty.
Working, juggling everything it can be exhausting as well.
Finding a good employer who is family friendly in whatever career is vital I find.
Relax on your own expectations.
