New career after building trade? Help!

My partner (45) has been in the construction business for the last 20 odd years. He’s a bricklayer and very much sought after by the local builders as he is takes a lot of pride in his work, is meticulous and quick. My DP over the years has worked for firms, for other builders etc but is currently self employed and becoming very disillusioned and fed up.
He loves his job in the summer but come the winter he hates it. With the current awful weather he has barely earned a penny in the last month or so. The last few winters he has been lucky enough that he had jobs on where he could work indoors when it was wet outside, but at the moment he only has jobs on that are outside and therefore feeling very fed up of his current situation.
He has been looking at jobs and thinking about jacking the building trade in for become a delivery driver. He said he just wants a job where he is guaranteed a wage at the end of the day.
Not sure what transferable skills he has from being a brick layer. Going back to college/uni isn’t an option. Does anyone have any ideas about any new careers he could try? It seems such a shame to completely leave the trade when he is so good at what he does.
thanks for reading. Any advice welcome. We live in north west.

Can he drive? He could always do his building trade in the summer and do a driving job in the Winter.

Why doesn’t he want to go to Uni? Quantity surveyor job would be perfect for him.

Thank you for your reply. I know I suggested that to him but he has no GCSE’s and would need to do an access course (as far as I know). He is very practical, hands on and very clever in lots of ways, very personable and has the gift of the gab, but not particularly academic putting things on paper. He’s also not very good with technology. He has adhd and told in school he would never make anything of himself and so unfortunately going to uni is too much of a scary thought. There’s also the financial side of it.

I’ll bet he could charge more and just work summers.
