Hello i was wondering if anyone has recently had a interview for the above job role and could give me some idea of the questions i may be asked during the interview, i am extremely nervous as i have very little interview experience, i have only had 2 interviews in my working career, i have been in my current job for nearly 30 years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well done on getting an interview! I would certainly expect questions around data protection - not all the technical stuff but to show an understanding that you will be working with confidential personal data. So the need to make sure filing cabinets are left secure, making sure you don’t share information with anyone not authorised and so on. Also teamwork, what do you think makes a good team for example. I would be open with them that you are nervous and haven’t had an interview for a while. But that you are hard working and know to check with your manager on anything you are not sure about. Good luck!

Well done on getting the interview. We ask about Trust values, so check their website and think of examples of things you've done that fit in with them. Think through examples of work situations - difficult colleagues, teamwork, when you've gone the "extra mile". Do try to think of some questions about the role. There's usually a contact name in the advert - do get on touch with them and just ask to chat through what a day in the job is like, then when you're interviewed you can bring up that you've looked more into the role and ask any questions you have about it.

Remember to smile and be friendly, but don't get carried away and talk too much lol. There's nothing wrong with stopping to think about an answer or asking them to explain more if you don't get what they're asking.

Hope that helps a bit!

They may ask you about prioritising workload, eg you have to collect notes for a clinic but a med secretary needs a single set of notes urgently, which do you do first etc.

No right or wrong answer AS LONG AS you have solid reasoning and can explain your answer

Try to bear in mind that they already think you can do the job by your application, they just want to meet you now and see what you're like.

I got a similar NHS job having been out of work for five years and not having had an interview for ten years. You can do this!
