Reducing hours without notice?

Currently work FT with a 3 month notice period.

Been told today that either my role is being made redundant or the hours reduced from FT to 3 days a week.

Working 3 days a week isn't the worst news and could actually work well for me. However they want this change to happen imminently.

Can my hours be reduced with no consultation or notice period?

Going down to 3 days a week after my 3 month notice period would be fine and enough time to sort my finances out and get Christmas out the way but I'm not sure if I am entitled to this legally? Can't see anything in my contract.

Any ideas?

There are no rules on the timeframes around an individual consultation, which it sounds like this is. So one meeting could theoretically be a valid consultation process - so long as it was meaningful and feedback was heard and considered.

But they most definitely cannot immediately reduce your hours, well not unless they plan to pay you for the FT hours and are just saying they don't need you in, but I am guessing this is not what is being suggested. So you need to push back on this robustly.

Okay thanks for the advice. I will push for 3 months full pay.
