Covering maternity leave - don't want to get burnt out

I started a new job in August. I'm a nurse specialist and there are two of us in the team. Both work covering different sites. My colleague is pretty lazy and won't even come across to my site to cover her consultants clinic. Needless to say I'm quite happy to do that clinic as she is a bit bossy and annoying and doing the clinic is easier than having her complain about the work.

More to the point, she is now pregnant. Which I have a feeling is going to make her more lazy. Anyway she will be going on maternity leave early next year. I'm worried that my boss is going to get me to cover all the clinics on both hospital sites.

I work 5 days a week (in my old job I worked condensed hours over 4 days). She works 4 days but I was told I won't get 4 days approved. The problem is that clinics over run so I end up stay between 1 and 2 hours over my time on those days. That only happens about twice a week at the moment. But If I take on her clinics too i will end up working late 3 times a week.

How can I negotiate with my manager? I feel the work load is already not spread out between us evenly. Ideally, I will be looking for a new job but not for another year or two.
