Hello!
hoping people can help with ideas for evening volunteering that would help with a primary teacher training application? I work full time & have a daughter so ideally something not too intense!
Have a few ideas but hoping for a bit of a list to find something suitable!

Cubs/Brownies?

Jethia · 23/10/2023 16:44

Brownies, rainbows, scouts are the obvious ones

What about finding a Saturday football club and your daughter can come along and you can help in one of the groups? Or any grassroots sports club.

Do any of your local colleges offer adult literacy or numeracy courses? I supported an adult literacy class and the college supported me to get a City & Guilds teaching qualification which helped me to get a place on a PGCE.

Yes as long as you don't just ghost them and stop showing up as soon as your application is accepted. That's not fair on the other volunteers or the kids.

Be upfront that you only intend to help out for X weeks/months for the application.

You could also volunteer as a school governor. Most meetings are evenings. You may need to be in occasionally in the day, but employers/trainers often allow this time. https://www.inspiringgovernance.org/

How old is your daughter?

Limonatamum · 23/10/2023 18:57

thanks guys, some great ideas, guiding/scouts definitely seems the obvious one (I did them all when I was younger and was actually a brownie leader from 14-18)
My daughter is 1.
i hadnt considered sports/governer/adult literacy so some really useful suggestions!
