looking for advice on CV templates

Alexiao · 23/10/2023 14:58

I haven't applied for jobs for ages. My CV is totally out of date and old school. I don't even have a profile at the top (yet). Are there any recommendations for templates I could use, preferably free, but happy to pay a small amount if needed. I would like something that I can download and edit myself later though, not something that just gives me a pdf or charges a monthly fee. Thanks very much for any help!!!

Is this any use - I got ChatGPT to write it:

[Your Name]

[Contact Information: Address, Phone, Email]

Profile:

[Write a brief, tailored profile statement summarizing your skills, experience, and career goals. Keep it concise and impactful, around 3-4 lines.]

--
Education:--

[List your academic qualifications, starting with the most recent, including the institution, degree, graduation date, and any relevant honors.]

Work Experience:

[Detail your work experience in reverse chronological order, including the company, job title, dates of employment, and key responsibilities and achievements. Focus on your most relevant experiences.]

--
Skills:--

[List key skills that are relevant to the job you're applying for. This can include technical skills, languages, or other skills that make you stand out.]

Certifications:

[List any relevant certifications or professional qualifications you hold.]

--
Additional Information:--

[Include any additional information that's pertinent to your application, such as volunteer work, publications, or memberships in professional organizations.]

References:

[You can include a statement that references are available upon request, but it's not necessary to list them on the one-page CV.]

Note: Be sure to tailor your CV to the specific job you're applying for and keep it concise to fit on a single A4 page. Adjust the content and formatting as needed to make it visually appealing and easy to read.

I don't think you'll need to lay for anything - just start to get your details recorded, and look for different examples online to see what you like.

Good luck 🙂

*to pay for anything

OnceUponATimeInTheVest · 24/10/2023 15:10

You don’t need to pay for for anything. Look on job sites like Reed, Indeed or Totaljobs, they normally have several templates available.

Ms word has good free ones

Tartareistasty · 25/10/2023 08:35

Be careful on some super grafic swanky ones. Looks like the AI many companies use can't readthem well

justwatchingtelly · 25/10/2023 08:38

Great thread, am doing the same currently. I read that it has to be one page, and include a photo

Tartareistasty · 25/10/2023 08:46

No photo in UK, up to two pages, but no more really for standard cv.
Whichever page recommended hoto on cv, forget they exist

LuckOfTheDrawer · 25/10/2023 09:11

I agree, no photos.
