KIT days

Hi all.

Currently on maternity leave and requested to go back 4 days instead of 5.
My manager wants a meeting to go over my request. Is this classed as a KIT day? Can I request overtime? It's probably going to be over the phone or teams.

Thanks :)

Doesn’t sound like a KIT day no, it is just a meeting. Are you really going to demand overtime for a meeting that you have essentially instigated because it is you that wants to discuss a change in hours.

In my case these type of meetings counted as KIT yes. The HR told me that even if you do a 30 min meeting it counts. I would confirm with the HR though.

It wouldn't in my place, no. You requested a meeting to try and adjust your hours - that isn't 'work'. That's like asking if you would get paid to attend a job interview!

I haven't requested overtime yet that's why I was asking the question because I wasn't sure. It's just a question! Chill out.
People on here always seem to come across angry and attacking people all the time in their responses. It's like a platform to let off steam and treat people badly. Just calm down and treat people better.

It would have counted as a KIT day for me - basically any contact I had with work they paid me a full day. I really think it is down to individual company/managers.

No harm in asking!

Where are the toxic replies? Strange how posts that don’t happen to say what you want to hear are classed as ‘toxic’. And, yes, I suppose mine is toxic too, as I agree with @Aprilx

I would count as a KIT day where I work (I’m HR too) and it is keeping in touch - to discuss your work. But rules around KIT days vary a lot and the statutory guidance allows for this, so it would depend on your company’s policy.

DinnaeFashYersel · 16/10/2023 16:53

It should be classed as KIT time and you should be paid.

It would have been a KIT day at my work.
