Hi guys I'm a childminder and I'm expanding

I have three main areas of business

Childminding under 5's
Before & After School & School Hols for 5-14's
Occasional minding (short term/emergency/going to a wedding/one off minding) 0-14

I currently use Childminding @ Walnut Corner for the first & second and I'm thinking about using Katie Pop-ins for the third, but I have been advised that I need to 'brand' or identify each with the others.

So
Childminding @ Walnut Corner
Squirrels @ Walnut Corner
Katie Pop-ins @ Walnut Corner

Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions or comments .....
Someone thought squirrels could be too young sounding for the age range....

Help Please

Walnut Corner is the name of our house btw

I don't think you have a branding issue because 'Walnut Corner' is the address and NOT the brand

I know what W&R was saying but in the case of Childminding at WC then that's just a profession (not business name) at an address

If you used 'your name' at Walnut Corner then the same would be true

I would have thought that its only if you want to create a branded name for your services .. like Katie Popp-Ins .. that you would run into any problem with other brands of the same name

I will bow to W&R's superior judgement of course

Although I think, for my part, you may be over-complicating things in your head

I think you just need to leap TBH

pictures of the house labelled Walnut Corner could help (alongside the happy, smiling children of course) .. oh and if the parents don't let you use their kids then you could borrow others, you do not have to show the kids you actually mind

Thanks for all your thoughts - of course I'm over complicating things - that & worrying are what I do best

Well - I normally am accused of over complicating things - so it's interesting to see that MNers think the same as my Mum

However I think I will use like

Walnut Corner
A home from home for your children

  • Full-time and Part-time Childminding
  • Before & After School Care
  • Daytime Occasional Babysitting

However I'm not sure about the last line...I might look at it again after Christmas (& my holiday) and I may see it with fresh eyes

I'm really bad at making decisions tho'

How about

'Ad Hoc Childminding'
or
'Ad Hoc Daytime Babysitting'
or
'Occasional Childminding to suit your needs'

I would put your name on it somewhere like

call Katie Mac on 0000 0000 000 IYSWIM

Merry Christmas

Childminding @ Walnut Corner
A home from home for your children

  • Full-time and Part-time Childminding
  • Before & After School Care
  • Childminding during School Holidays
  • Occasional Childminding to suit your needs

You see with lots of help I can get places....This is so much better than what I started with.

Thanks everyone - now I need a picture of a tree....or possible a tree in a house (iyswim) - I'll start thinking again

Or even

Childminding @ Walnut Corner
For all your childcare requirements

  • Full-time and Part-time Childminding
  • Before & After School Care
  • Childminding during School Holidays
  • Occasional Childminding to suit your needs

You see I've confused it again

Well I think 'a home from home for your children' sounds more personal and comforting (I personally find your 2nd option a little austere) ... I would want my children to be a home-like environment when not with me with the personal attention and all that entails

KatieMaChristmas · 22/12/2004 20:59

You could well be right....
