Edit cv?

I am stressed as fuck at my middle management level job. I have little children at home am trying to take a step back to something less full on, but I am getting absolutely nowhere.

I am applying for things like part time receptionist / admin assistant. I don't think I'm being fussy and am wondering if it looks weird that I'm applying for roles which pay less and have less responsibility.

Should I be editing my cv somehow to make my current role lool less management-y, or do I need to explain why I'm taking a step back a bit better in my cover letter?

I know how you feel because I'm trying to do the same. Have you been adding a covering letter with applications? I haven't been, but I am going to start doing this from now on and explain why I am applying for the job and why I would make the perfect candidate. Hoping this will make a difference.

Sorry to hear you're in the same boat! Hate it. Sundays are the worst.

I have when the jobsites ask for one, but it's usually just about the job and job my experience relates to it. Think I need to include a part where I say why I want to take a pay cut / step back etc.

Definitely explain in cover letter.

You should edit your CV for every role.

Keep the positions and job titles, but stress different duties you had . So if you were going for a senior role, you might say ‘I lead X project including managing 20 staff and a budget of £Y’.

The same role If you’re aiming for a reception position could be spun as ‘I worked with a team delivering X, which included speaking to the public and co-ordinating activities’.

Made up examples, but all jobs have different things you can stress.
