Need to leave my role - then what?

So my work has got major stressful. Without being too outing, bascially, theres lots of redundancies and the workload being piled onto me without any support, just criticisms.

Hated my role before this, but carried on as it's good money, and after 12 years, I figured I'll keep going until I'm made redundant.... no chance of that now I'm the only left to do the work!!

Anyway, I've been looking for months. Absolutely nothing out there that has piqued my interest (a few did but only got one interview and they said I was too qualified for the role and they were worried I'd get bored and leave).

I'm wondering if I can hand my notice in and find a less paid role somewhere while I look for my new 'real' role. Maybe caring, or a supermarket role?

What kind of work will get me 2,300 a month while i look for 'the one'? This will just cover my bills. Am I being too hopeful?

FYI I have zero savings and live alone with a mortgage.

I think I'm asking too much and will need to hold out until the right job comes along, but thought I'd give you guys a go, see if anyone can give me a glimmer of hope 🤣

Depends where you live. Easier to earn a higher salary in London for instance.
You'd have to do alot of hours in a supermarket or caring job to earn £2300 a month.
I don't earn that much and i manage a large team full time.
Think you may need to hold out and apply for as many as you can.
Have yiu discussed with yiur manager the stresses in the role?

@Jammylou thank you for your response. I'm in the SE just outside of London.
I know that I'm asking so much, I'm just desperate and wondered if there's something out there that I'm missing.
My manager knows about it. He has the view of - keep taking on more work to show the company that we are needed and useful. We are all that's left of our department and if we don't show that we are indispensable then we all lose our jobs. I'm hoping this happens sooner rather than later, but I fear my mental health won't last that long (I dread opening my emails, I dread my phone ringing, my teams pinging, constantly on the verge of tears etc).

I know I have to hold in there. I have friends in caring and the money isn't too bad, but they've worked years and years with many qualifications and promotions to get to "not too bad money".

And I completely understand that I have it good with my wage, I am not debating or arguing that. I'm more worried for my mental health but also paying my mortgage. Aahhhh

What skills, industry exp do you have? Could you go contracting?

I think I left out quite a major issue... I don't really have any "special skillsets." I have worked my way up into a role that usually takes years of education, and no one will hire me without these formal qualifications (that that I'd want this role again!!).

Hence the amazing money but the huge stress. The major factor is that I don't really know how to do anything outside of what I know just for my role, and what I do know is very vague - not an indepth knowledge, if that makes sense?

That also explains why the one interview that I had, had said that I was too overqualified, despite me explaining my role and wanting to step back into the original role, which pays less, but I really enjoyed.

I feel totally trapped here 😞
