Should I go to the interview?

i work for a company I’ve been in 6 years. I’m very comfortable there, I love my team, have a great manager and I’m treated well with lots of autonomy. The pay isn’t amazing but the flexibile working and everything else is great.
the actual job itself and the way things are run I’m not that happy with and haven’t been for years, there’s a lot of frustrations.

But the people, autonomy and flexibility keep me there.

there is rarely opportunities for progression and a pay rise isn’t going to happen, so I’ve been looking and been invited to an interview somewhere else. It would be interesting, more experience, salary would be up to 7k more and would be great for my CV.

now wondering if I’d be mad to leave my current role when I have it good, especially because I have a great manager; I’m all of a sudden scared. Should I go to the interview?

I'm in a similar position as you (bar the job interview invite!). I'd go to the interview, see what vibe you get from them, have a bit of practice and then see what happens. Oh! But make sure you've thought about it hard as if they do offer you the job, you'll need to give them your answer...

Good luck!

Go for it. You might not get offered it, and you might not want it once you have found out more at the interview. But you might as well go and see what happens. If you got offered it, then that’s when you need to make a decision.

Go for the interview then make up your mind. If you get it could you use it to negotiate a pay rise in your current company?

Go! Of course you should go! It’s so easy just to get stuck in your comfort zone. Remember that you had a reason to be looking for a change.

I did this recently, very similar circs to you, I got the job and have accepted! I’m working my notice currently, I still have doubts I’m doing the right thing but deep down I know I am. The frustrations etc also aren’t healthy, they are something we grow used to but shouldn’t accept.

if you go for it it may clarify how you really feel if nothing else.

Are you me OP?
I'm going for my interview just to see what others have to offer - who knows, maybe they are flexible too and the managers are also nice

I was like this recently when I went for an interview, I went anyway and they ended up offering me a better job than I applied for.

Just go, and see how you feel if you get an offer! Staying somewhere comfortable isn't always the right thing. You can ask for the flexibility you need etc.
