So BORED of working

..just this really. I've worked f/t since I was 19 years old so 22 years ago. In Jan I changed jobs to p/t (3 days a week) amd also do independent assessments on the "side"
So I'm still technically full time working. I'm just so bored of everything to do with working. The commute, the small talk with colleagues, the work with the people
Everything the thought of having to work for another 26 years till I get my pension at 69 horrified me....
Is anyone else like this?

Yes, a bit. I actually quite like my job but I can think of all these things i'd rather be doing instead.

Maybe go for a total career change and do something like breed otters

i work fast food rip its hell ,hell for how many more years who knows.

Me too. I generally love my job - always have after nearly 20 years - but in recent weeks have found Monday mornings depressing with the thought of another week ahead of the same old same old. Single parent and kids are little and everything just feels relentless and non stop

Yep, I hear you! I’m a similar point in my career, so worked ft for 20 years. I like my job, but don’t love it. Really don’t want to be doing this for the next 25 years, but can’t find another career that I want to, or can afford to change to. Am thinking of contracting to get some more variety but not sure if it’ll be any better…

I get it. Is there anyway you can afford to retire a few years earlier?

My plan is to retire at 60 and do loads of travelling before settling down in a semi rural location with 2-3 whippets to keep me company (I may have thought about this way too much recently). I’m 47 so can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m lucky in that I’m in Australia and our compulsory superannuation can be accessed from 60 even though the government pension isn’t available until we’re 67.

Another shite day doing a load of croak!

I hear all of you. I actually miscalculated how long I've been working f/t. It's 26 years!!!🙄

My inlaws retired at age 50. Full state pension and 80% final salary pension. My FIL has actually been pensioner longer than he has ever worked.

I don't even know what I would do if I didn't work....

As much as i want to climb out the depths of hell its not going to happen.I have studied childcare and education.Although i was top of my class unfortunately due to problems with my legs i cant work in childcare.Long hours and to much activity on my legs can cause painful muscle spasms .No job wants me and i have no skills nor do i have spare income to train or learn something else.At least with my current job i can walk at a snails pace no one seems to care as long as i am a fast talking cashier .

If you have a slightly mentally challenging job that keeps you going count yourself lucky .It could be worst ,i just book various camping trips throughout the year. That way at least i have things to look forward to .Try to find things to look forward to it helps

Yep. It’s soul destroying isn’t it. I’ve been fortunate enough to retrain but yeah I still have to work and really work is the problem. Now I wonder if this field is really for me and I should’ve stuck at what I did- at least it paid better. I literally count down the years and months 26 and 3 at the moment, til I can retire. Sometimes think about mortgaging myself up the the hilt to buy a rental or soemthinf so that I may have a tiny chance of retiring early. I can’t be arsed with my colleagues, the work is quite important and I should love it but tbh it’s just relentless isn’t it and it just takes so long and so many hoops to jump through for the smallest thing.

I honestly do not feel the same.
I think it's all about getting a good work life balance.
I enjoy my dsys off and I also enjoy the days I work.
It gives me purpose.
Does help that I am a Manager so I can more or less plan my own day.
I get excellent Annual Leave allowance.
I am in my fifties and planning to retire at 60.
It depends if you feel yiur job is worthwhile I expect.
