Hi all, just wondered if you could help me with some maths!!

Job is 40K full time (25days hol plus bank hols)
37.5 hours a week

I will be doing 4 days term time only.

Can any one work out my salary? I'm working it out at about 24K but didn't know if I added hols

Thanks in advance

I would work out 37.5 x 52 = total hours

30x 39 = actual hours

Divide lower figure by higher figure (I got 0.6). Then times your full time salary by 0.6. That should be figure before tax etc.

Will you be paid evenly over the year or depending on when you work?

How many hours a year are you expected to work? We need to know if your annual leave is included in the 4 days a week during term time, or if you get no annual leave and are expected to take leave during school hols.

Thanks,

I think no annual leave and have to take holiday in term time only but I chose to take a term time only job and would typically get 25dayd hol a year

What do you mean by no annual leave but then taking annual leave during term time? It's either/or.

Will you be taking your pro rata annual leave during your normal working hours (so not paid at all for school holidays) or will you be taking all annual leave during the holidays (so you will be paid for 20 odd days during school hols). What does your contract say?

titchy · 10/09/2023 19:33

User's calculation is about right if you can take holiday during the term time. But if you are expected to work all term and take leave during hols it would be about 30 x 42 weeks as your annual hours, around 65% of FT, making your salary around £26k.

IWD23 · 10/09/2023 19:39

If you aren't taking holidays during term time, you are owed a minimum of 5.6 weeks' holiday per year on top of your working weeks. This is not pro-rated for term time/seasonal work anymore.

Either way you are owed those holidays, it's just whether they are included in your term time hours.

You said not, so I make your pay to be around £27.5K

400000.8FTE for 4/5 days per week
32000/52 for weekly pay
615.38
44.6 for pro-rated pay

You can't be penalised for part time hours compared to full time benefits so if full time gets more holidays then so will you.

Great site and can show you take home after tax, pension any other deductions etc too

titchy: sorry for confusion, it's the later one
( taking all annual leave during the holidays (so you will be paid for 20 odd days during school hols).
So will this mean it's approx 27.5 K?

I did forget to adjust for any bank holidays within your 39 weeks which are not worked - these will need to be deducted from your 5.6 weeks holiday.

But otherwise, yes, would say around £27.5K.

Thanks everyone for your help x
