Microsoft Teams project management training resources?

I've recently started a new job, where, at 59, I am probably the age of most of the team's parents. I was at my old, toxic, workplace far too long and it knocked my confidence and deskilled me. Frankly I spent my time trying to keep my head above water. It took a huge mental push for me to get out, but I am at risk of self sabotage now by telling myself I am too old for this.

At new workplace they use Teams for project management. This is a new use for me, and I am struggling to get my head around it. I screwed up on it big time this week, and after a sleepless night asked IT for some training, which is in place for next week.

In the meantime, I would appreciate it if anyone has any links to resources that I could look at over the weekend please?

Are you on LinkedIn? There are some good learning modules on there.

Good luck!

As above, you could try LinkedIn Learning if your company or local library give you access to it. It's also a Microsoft company so has a lot on their products.

There are a few videos on you tube about how to use Teams for project management that may be helpful.

Take the pressure off. Be open with colleagues that this is something new that you’re learning about. know that in a few weeks you will feel more confident.

Before your training watch some v basic introductions to Teams on YouTube. This one is quite good:

I’ve been in your shoes with Teams - it was a steep learning curve but honestly, it is manageable. I asked a couple of colleagues if they wd b happy to be ‘practice people’ and I used them to send messages to, set up meetings etc That was v useful.

might b good to address your anxiety levels too as you are probably giving yourself a narrative of “I can’t do this” when you absolutely can.

good luck 😀🤗

Thank you everyone, that's really useful. Yes, I think that my internal narrative of 'I'm too old for this' is becoming self fulfilling. I was reading another thread where the OP was job hunting at 59 and the support she got was amazing. I realise I need to shift my mindset.

We've had Teams for about 3 years now and I bloody hate it. I can never find any files as our filing system is crap, and I've got so many chats going it's difficult to remember who I'm chatting with about what.
Give me Outlook and Sharepoint any day.

Look for ‘project online’ - that’s the version of project that comes with Teams. It is not the same as MS Project. It’s more similar to MS Planner, so it may be useful to get familiar with Planner or watch those videos too. Also set up your own Team and project board where you are the only team member so you can practise in the privacy of your own space without worrying about changing up a live project.
