To take a promotion or leave it?

I am a mom of DS nearly 2 years old. Get great help from partner in looking after him. Currently work 3 days per week longer hours. I have been offered a promotion which would mean I will get a decent pay rise and probably will work 4 days per week. That would mean I will have to arrange childcare for 1 extra day each week and obviously uncertainty about how stressful that new role might be as it's a role with more responsibilities but it will be good for my career in the long term. If I take this role I will miss spending that additional day off with DS. I am really torn about it but I don't want to be stuck in my current role for long time and not grow in my career. If I leave this new role then there is no guarantee that I will get similar role again next year.
Wwyd in my situation? Any suggestions are appreciated:)

Also, wanted to mention in the current climate we will definitely benefit from increased pay but after taxes and paying for additional childcare I will be left with the same amount of money in hand

I went with career. I was fortunate in that OH was supportive and we had good child care. I spent several years working away in different offices in a fairly high profile role. I missed a lot of my girls growing but that's probably no different to many of the married men doing similar roles.
Obviously I don't know your particular circumstances but if you want the career go for it. There may be sacrifices in your family life. Some days I regret the sacrifices but others not so much.

Take the opportunity! As you say, it will put you in a better position career-wise in the long run, which is good for you and your DS. You will still have a whole day off with him during the week plus weekends, you'll be fine!

@BigFatLiar @passthesugar thanks for your responses. I am thinking of taking the promotion but concerned as well that I might regret not spending much time with DS once he is in school full time :( though I will be working from home most days so I feel I can still pick him up an hour earlier and spend time with him.

Can you explain to work that with working an extra day, that you will be left with same amount of pay.

I know it's not their problem. Will the new role be paid at market rate? If not push for a little more money?
