Shall I cancel job interview or attend and see?

After about 11 years being Sahm I landed a job interview ( retail)
I still can only do certain hours between as doing drop off/ picks up for my son to his secondary school, which is far from house.
I don’t know what the hours will be as it’s only says part time job, but weekend’s included.
I applied before but as I wasn’t flexible I put it there and I never got even acknowledged .
This time I put fully flexible and I got invited for an interview yesterday, which i confirmed.
I am sort of hoping it would be maybe a 3-4 days half day work, sadly I’m not flexible at the weekends as have no child care, can’t leave my son home the whole day ( DH works whole weekends)
Also I can’t do early mornings as doing drop offs.
Now- shall I go to the interview and see if I am actually successful and see what hours they will offer or shall I just cancel it all totally?

@Rachie1973 its not my catchment, they nearest ones were full, no space, they gave us the 5th in distance sadly, I spoke to them, they said that’s the way it is.
The nearest one is walking distance but we didn’t get in, but anyway I decided to call them and cancel it - no point going there if can’t commit fully.
thanks all.

One one hand, I'd go for it...even if just for the interview experience, explain your flexibility-the worst they can say is no.

But I also have massive rejection sensitive dysphoria so probably would struggle with this myself.

Another thing I could suggest is widing the net to jobs you wouldn't ordinarily know about. Look on your council website for things like family support worker roles or even teaching assistant roles. Perfect for SAHM to transition into, often term time only and easy to fit around kids. You'll have so much experience and transferable skills that you might not even appreciate yourself.

Did you have the option to appeal for a place in the closer school?

As someone who has spent a lot of time shortlisting and interviewing people, please don't just turn up 'for the experience'. The interviewers will, at some point, individually interview candidates they want to progress, and if you get to that stage, you may be wasting the interviewers' time, and perhaps taken another candidate's place.

Phone them and ask exactly what would be needed in terms of hours and flexibility. Then you'll be in a position to make an informed decision.

They’re not going to want someone who isn’t flexible. Sorry. It’s retail, their busiest day is a Saturday so I would expect you would have to work at least one day of the weekend.

I worked in Tesco for 5 years and everyone was made to work a weekend (unless they were on the old contract).

To answer your question, I would still attend and be honest with what you can do. Worst they’ll say is no but you’ve got experience of an interview. I wouldn’t worry about wasting their time - interviewers do it all the time to fill quotas. Good luck
