Will they fire me?

I got a new 2nd job and got a bad news (which meant myself and family were no longer feeling safe) the day before I was to start job. With that news I felt and I still feel weak, sad, in fear, worried & can't concentrate on work at all.

But I managed to start 1st day training but I was not concentrating at all and

I called in sick the 2nd day (I could not just work + I needed to make lots of personal calls etc)

I want to call in sick today again 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ because I still have a lot to do regarding the bad news and making myself and family safe etc

But I am now wondering what the employer might do. Fire me? Put me on a different project if I miss substantial amount of training on the project currently working on?

Maybe you could be honest and explain the situation- it helps.

Exactly what @RexWillKillYou said

Hi @wheretoturntoGod
Is there anyway you could speak to your manager about your circumstances? x

This. You have nothing to lose really. If you call in sick, they may or may not get rid of you. It doesn't have the best image to them but they may give you the benefit of the doubt rather than go through costly recruitment rounds... but they'll probably have a bad taste in their mouth (or might just think its bad luck!)
But you could just have a quiet word with your new manager or the HR personnel involved in your recruitment. Explain what has happened and that you want to give 100% to your new role but can't at the moment because of whatever has happened. See if you can find a way forward together. They might be useless, which will tell you what you need to know about the company, or they could help you get through this patch by delaying training etc.
I would say you need to go in knowing what you need though - is it just a day or two more you need time for? Or is this going to impact you longer term? Without knowing the scenario it's impossible to say.

Just seen your other thread. Tell your employer, they might help or have those employee helplines with lawyer support etc.
