Regret changing jobs

I recently changed jobs. My old job was flexible and I enjoyed it, but was weekend work and no chance of career progression, no contract etc. Just work and get paid for the hours you work.
My new job is a contact again just 2 days, it means paying for childcare though, and I have to book holidays in advance as they can be refused. Everyone is perfectly nice but I just don't click and have the laugh with them like I did my old colleagues. It's not physically exhausting like my old job though. I have to pay £115 a year just to do this job as I need to be registered too.

I'm wondering about getting in touch with my old manager and asking about my job back.. but then it's weekend work again. Any advice please?

The things you didn't like about your old job will still be the same. Why not stay in the new job but keep an eye out for something you think will suit you better.

@Winter2020 That's very true. It will still be long, busy shifts and weekend work. I'll stick out where I am and see if there is anything else that comes up. X

It's natural to feel uncomfortable whilst adjusting to a new job. I think you're having a wobble and you need to ride it out.

You haven't given it very long at all and you spent a long time beforehand agonising about your decision.

Give it six months. You can't expect to develop equivalent relationships after a few shifts with people - it takes time.

There are lots of positives about your new role - give yourself the chance to succeed with it.

Thanks @swanling. I'm feeling a bit more positive about it this week actually. I've spend full days with 2 of the girls and both lovely, with lots in common. My registration has also come through meaning I can now do everything which I couldn't before. Hopefully if I give it more time I won't even think about if I've made a mistake or not any more xx

That's great news, I'm glad you're feeling more positive about it. Hopefully this will be just the start of many good things for you.
