Dealing with fake “niceness” in the workplace?

So this is something I’ve never dealt with in my working career and not sure how to handle it frankly. It’s fake niceness.

When I went for the interview alarm bells should have rang but I was caught of guard, any interviews I’ve had have been with stern HR managers, hard as nails and a smile would crack their face, not here, all smiles and jokes and offered coffee and biscuits ffs.

I got the job and the same fake niceness runs through out the company, but get one by themselves the bitching and backstabbing begins, the entire thing is fake.

The issue I have is you never know where you stand as no one is ever gonna call you out, make a mistake, you’ll never know, not making a good impression you’ll never know,’failing the probation period you’ll never know, in fact if you did fail probation I don’t think anyone would actually sack you face to face it would be via email or something. So you see the issue? It leaves you wondering really if you’re doing things right as you never get any feedback and the default is just being nice.

Anyone dealt with this before?

Don't get me started on "fakeness" in the work place.

Only way to deal with it is to say poke your job where the sun does not shine.
No money makes me want to put up with bullies or making it up as I go along.

Really regret having an interview with a most miserable and demoralising team leader, only to cop them as Manager in worst of luck, god do I wish I had turned down the miserable job for no job, they then disappear under 'short notice holiday' and don't bother to communicate this (not the same for first line agents! oh no!) leaving their mates who are more sales-ey in leadership trying to talk you around when you say you hate learning in trial by error. I can only think it is because my '80-odd colleagues don't really exist, you know just a number until it suits them.

Fortunately Friday afternoon, it came to light where they'd previously double and triple told me my work was checked upon entering and throughout academy, so I couldn't have made any mistakes, that has turned out entirely not to be true. It's the final straw.

Such a wasted period. Sat in front of a power point for 3 weeks learning processes that didn't exist, enduring absolute hours of silly ice-breakers (which really amounts to who is the coolest, lets face it) no it does not foster happy working relations in a call centre where everyone is timed in working for their own targets. In the end it was so nuts that our '3 week power point trainers' where advocating we actually ask the seemingly most confident of the group for help! (despite them being as new as we all were) >>>Nuts, nuts. nuts.
Not an industry either when you can make stuff up on the spot : ( or be trained 100% it seems so best of out of it I say.

Simple request 1 on 1 catch ups with your line manager every month in the early days and ask for feedback including constructive criticism.
