Bank cleaner for Nhs - what's it like ?

Hi

I need a flexible job so I'm considering becoming a bank cleaner at my local hospital. I could offer up to 3 shifts a week. Has anyone had bank experience with the NHS in an entry level role ?

Thanks .

I work on Bank for the NHS and while it suits me, I'd be aware that as bank staff, you don't get some of the nhs benefits like incremental increases/sick pay etc This might vary by trust so do check. Also, if you can offer three shifts, would a substantive post be possible for you?

I use to do this while I studied to be a nurse. I use to work Saturday and Sunday Evenings, 5-8pm so 6 hours a week. Bloody loved it. Learned a lot about infection control. I was classed as housekeeping so I'd served dinners too.

I'm pretty sure that cleaners, along with security in hospitals come under SERCO. I don't know if this means that you don't get the same NHS pension etc, but I would like into it, because it might have completely different T&C's to regular, NHS employees.

Thanks everyone for your replies . I'm not bothered about pension etc . It's the flexibility I'm interested in as I want to fit it around caring for family. I just wondered if I would be expected/ pressured into doing certain shifts . I just want to pick my days and hours to suit .
