Constantly making mistakes.. how to deal with it?

I constantly make small mistakes but just made a big mistake (for the second time!) 😢 and I need to own up about another.

I’m so annoyed with myself and I’m sure the boss is fuming with me but she never says anything directly. I’m just not sure what to say and where to go from here. I’ve been here less than 2 years so they could quite easily let me go.

Tbh I think I do need to get signed off but does it look like I’m just running away? I’ve really been up against it inside and outside of work over the last 18 months and it’s just all got too much.

So first thing in my mind is asking why are you making these mistakes? Is it lack of training? Lack of attention / effort? A process that has a specific failure point? Is there a consistent reason behind the mistakes or are they all completely unrelated?

If it's lack of training, you could ask for some further training and put some checks in place to try and catch / alleviate the mistakes. If it's lack of attention / effort are you able to change your processes and again put checks in place to stop these? If you could have an open chat with your manager she might be able to offer some specific advice as she'll definitely have more of an idea about what you do than me 😂

Why do you think the answer is being signed off, is there something else contributing?

It’s a mixture really. The biggest reason is I find wfh/remote working difficult and flagged this in my interview and they said I wouldn’t have to, then changed their policy after I started.

I started 18 months ago and just have had a bad time since - overbearing manager who didn’t let me do anything (so I didn’t learn! She’s since left), was meant to have 2 juniors helping me and the manager but they were both off sick for 6 months then one left, no support from the wider team despite asking.

They have since changed the structure so we don’t have managers and now I don’t really have anyone to ask all my Qs to - I put things in the group chat and they just get ignored (which is part of the reason for the fuck up this time).

The workload is huge and senior management apply so much pressure.. i find it impossible to keep up with everything in their timescales.

Plus I had family bereavements/illnesses outside of work which has been tough.

It’s resulted in vomiting and panic attacks - I’ve never been like this before and hate it!
