Why are people so bitter

I bumped into 2 previous co-workers in the last week and each of them rants about how bad it was and so glad they left, start slagging off management and it just annoys me, they didn't like it, they left good for them.
I'm happy and don't have a problem with my work so why try and bring it down. Even when I say ah yeah I'm happy they keep going.

Is everyone who leaves a big (100+ multinational company) so bitter....

I think if you leave because you had a hard time and hated it it's hard not to talk about that, it's almost therapeutic.

I left my work 2 years ago after 12 years at the same place. The morale had gone, we were micromanaged it was awful. So now when I bump into ex-colleagues it's a need to talk through that, but also commiserate with them about how shit it is. I guess your ex colleagues might assume you feel the same way.

A lot of people only realise how shit a job and/or an employer is when they leave. It’s happened to me.

Speaking about it can be cathartic, it’s not bitter. Maybe they’re trying to warn you so you also get something better.
